Frequently asked questions about dog waste bags

Why don’t we offer biodegradable bags?

Dog waste does not belong in compost – and “biodegradable” poop bags do not change that at all. Dog waste must not be composted – neither in home compost heaps nor in industrial biogas or composting facilities.

Why? Because it can contain pathogens, parasites (e.g. worms such as Toxocara) and bacteria that can be dangerous for people, animals and agriculture. That is why it must be disposed of with residual waste and incinerated. Dog waste bags made from cornstarch, PLA or materials labelled as “compostable” are not a sustainable solution – quite the opposite: in practice, they often fail to deliver the expected benefits. The bags never end up in compost anyway – neither privately nor industrially. Many composting facilities even actively filter them out because they disrupt the process.

Instead, the “bio” label falsely suggests to many dog owners: “Then I can throw it into the organic waste bin – or even just leave it on the ground?” This leads more often to incorrect disposal and therefore to more pollution instead of less.

Conclusion:

Even “biodegradable” or “compostable” dog waste bags do not make dog waste compostable – it still belongs in residual waste.
Biodegradable poop bags do not solve a problem – they often create a new one.
Real environmental protection starts with proper disposal – not with marketing.

Are there “100%” recycled or bio bags?

Additional substances are added to the granulate to stabilise and colour the products. Because of these additives, the claim “100%” would clearly be a lie.

What recycling content do we achieve?

The environmental label “Blue Angel” guarantees a recycling content of at least 80%. Our Blue Angel certified Recycle PURE bags have a recycling content of between 92 and 96%, depending on production conditions.

How can I recognise genuine recycled bags?

Even with state-of-the-art recycling facilities, it is not possible to remove all foreign materials from the film. These visible and tangible foreign particles make pure recycling very easy for end consumers to recognise.
